Vennersys chosen to supply Visitor Management System for Nothe Fort

Vennersys has been selected to partner with Nothe Fort, a unique museum and family attraction offering education and learning. This heritage site is based in Weymouth’s historic sea fort on the Jurassic Coast. Built in 1872 to protect Weymouth and Portland harbours, Nothe Fort is now one of Weymouth’s premier tourist attractions.

Made up of three levels, it encompasses a museum of the fort’s history, café, gift shop, and excellent 360 degree views across both harbours and the beautiful Nothe Gardens of the peninsula. Located at the entrance to Weymouth Harbour and overlooking Portland Harbour, the Nothe Fort was built between 1860-1872 was built to protect the Naval Harbour at Portland. The museum explores how advances in military design and technology altered the Fort until its decommission in 1956. Children in education can experience life as a World War Two evacuee and learn how the war affected towns such as Weymouth. Throughout the year the fort is alive with themed events, exhibitions, and their locally acclaimed mouse hunt; ensuring fun for all the family.

The renowned visitor attraction is nominated for the pandemic pivot museums and heritage award. In addition, it was also chosen in the top ten list of Britain’s best small museums by The Guardian.
