How Visitor Attraction Software Can Maximise Revenue Through Gift Aid Donations
November 24, 2020
This year has been difficult for many industries, especially the visitor attractions sector. Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, England finds itself in lockdown for a second time, meaning the industry has taken another financial blow.
Many Museums and Historic Houses operate as charitable trusts and could be missing out on potential gift aid donations by not using the correct visitor attraction software. It is therefore important that you consider the benefits of Gift Aid to maximise revenue through the tax benefits available.
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a tax relief that allows charities to claim back 25p for every £1 that is spent on a donation, and it generates over £1.3bn in additional income for the UK charity sector each year.
A simple way to facilitate Gift Aid is to add it towards the price of a ticket. When launched 30 years ago, the Gift Aid scheme only allowed charitable attractions to offer it to visitors taking out annual memberships. In 2006, however, the scheme was expanded and it now includes single-entrance tickets. These tickets, however, must be at least 10% more than the normal admission fee, or allow free or discounted admission for a minimum of 12 months.
Not only this, but the relief can also be claimed on subscriptions, one-off appeals, sponsorships and monetary gifts.
VenposCloud
Our visitor attraction software VenposCloud increases charitable donations by simplifying the process at the point of sale. This allows you to easily integrate donations into your daily business operations, maximising revenue.
VenposCloud also reduces the time needed for admin as you don’t need to fill in lengthy forms. Our integrated software makes it easy for your venue to confirm the donor’s name and address by simply inputting their postcode. Not only this, but reporting and consolidation is made easier than ever as you can simply run a report to gather all the information needed to send to HMRC.
