Vennersys have been chosen by Hurst Castle to supply their Visitor Management System. This artillery fort was established by Henry VIII on the Hurst Spit in Hampshire, England. It formed part of the king’s Device Forts coastal protection programme against invasion from France and the Holy Roman Empire and defended the western entrance to the Solent waterway.

A visit to Hurst Castle is one of the best days out in the New Forest with plenty of open space for children to explore and fantastic views of the Isle of Wight. The Tudor fort at its heart still looks much as it did in the 16th century. It is one of the best-preserved of Henry VIII’s castles and one of very few of them to have been successively updated and strengthened, allowing it to retain an active military role in the 20th century. Hurst Castle is managed on behalf of English Heritage by Hurst Marine, a local family business that has been associated with the castle for more than three generations. 

What Were The Challenges

Hurst Castle were planning to reopen safely so having the ability to pre-book tickets online was paramount for their customers. The Castle wanted a system where they could monitor the flow of people coming in and stagger customers around the venue. The castle can assess which periods are busy and which are quiet so they can stagger customers accordingly.
